Rewriting History aims to map South African history through the perspectives of women. It uncovers and highlights the stories
of women who have contributed to South African society in their own unique ways, from the 1650s up until the present. This site acknowledges
and celebrates women in South African history who are often overlooked in the common narrative of South Africa. It unearths their stories to challenge the
status quo and give us a broader understanding of South Africa’s past. The site also looks towards the future in recognizing current female game changers in South
Africa who are defying boundaries and creating history.
